The Department of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication
Education and methodology research involves:
- Designing theoretical and practical undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics, intercultural communication, business communication, methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, cultural anthropology, comparative culture studies
- Preparing examination and testing materials, presentations and abstracts of various courses
- Visiting lectures and seminars of fellow colleagues with further discussions on teaching methods
- Participating in national and international academic projects (creating teaching materials and course programs for regional universities)
Academic research
Academic research conducted by the department covers the following areas:
- Theory, history and methodology of linguistics
- Language and culture in theory and practice of intercultural communication
- Contemporary methods of teaching linguistics and intercultural communication
- Russian as a foreign language
It involves:
- Teaching specialty courses and seminars, supervising course papers and diploma papers
- Supervising postgraduate students
- Participating in conferences at both local and international levels, organizing the annual “Lomonoosovky readings” and other faculty conferences
- Preparing and presenting doctoral dissertations
- Writing and publishing research papers
